About We Rock the Spectrum Carmel

Jane & Sarah are a mother-daughter duo from Carmel, IN, embarking on this journey
together. Jane is a married mother of one (Sarah :)) and grandmother of six. Sarah is a
married mother of two (Korben age 5 and Kelce age 1) and four stepdaughters (aged 12,
15, 18, 19). Jane has been in the flooring/remodeling industry for over three decades, and
Sarah has been in the veterinary industry for 15 years. Sarah and Jane have always had a
passion for children and drawn to helping those who may need a little extra help. Korben,
Sarah’s son, has been the blessing and catalyst of their dive into WRTS. A big focus of
theirs is not only providing a space for sensory-seekers, but moreover, providing a space for
any and all children to interact with one another. They have always lived by “it takes a
village”, and they cannot wait to expand their “village” with We Rock the Spectrum.

Jane and Sarah are mother-daughter duo from Indiana. While both women have been
passionate about the neurodivergent community forever, the catalyst for opening a We
Rock the Spectrum is Sarah’s son, Korben. Korben is six years old, autistic, non-verbal,
and has a rare genetic syndrome.

Most importantly, Korben is a sensory-seeker. If he can climb it, he will. If he can jump
on it, he will. If it spins, he will spin on it. His need for this input has consistently been a
challenge in public, where most of this behavior is not always welcome.

Jane and Sarah have always had a calling for working with children, and providing
resources and sense of belonging within the community. Jane worked in the remodeling
industry for 38 years before taking this leap, whereas Sarah has been in the veterinary
industry for 15 years. Both women have chosen to move on from those respective
careers to embark on this journey.

As a mother of a neurodivergent son, Sarah knows the struggle of connecting with other
parents whose children may not understand Korben. Jane and Sarah intend to lean into
this need as well, and hopefully be able to provide some parent-based resources,
knowledge and support in addition to the gym.

Jane and Sarah are so incredibly eager to bring something much needed to the people
of central Indiana!
